Although Curia is known for the thermal waters, the curiosity about this building, an art deco palace from the 20’s, (and mum!), were the main reasons for a stay here. The feel is a bit museum like, specially the common areas such as the lobby and the restaurant, an impressive well-preserved art deco salon! You can actually go back in time here.
The rooms have modern facilities though, and all the comfort, preserving some classy furniture details. The employees are extremely nice and you can enjoy a modern spa and a really cool vintage pool.
The location is quite strategic, Curia is very small and quiet, but just a few kms away you can reach two really interesting and alive cities, Coimbra and Aveiro. This destination is also advisable for foodies, with good wine and some gastronomic delicacies not suitable for vegetarians.

I reached Airbnb while looking for a bed & breakfast in Barcelona and decided to try it out. A good experience!
What’s about? You basically have locals renting rooms for holidays and you stay in their houses. In the case of Barcelona I found this option much more interesting and affordable: I stayed in the city center with my own room, had a breakfast included, my own bathroom and was able to use the kitchen for the same price of a multiple room in a hostel!
Airbnb provides a more authentic stay, and I find it a very effective way of avoiding overpriced hostels with no character or plain hotels in the suburbs. The choice and price range is quite diverse, you have really basic rooms and really charming ones, plus you have the local tips! Definitely I will try it next time!

Stelios Place is a “no-frills chic” accommodation, literally a few steps away from Perissa Beach in Santorini. I must confess everything seems bigger in the pictures, once there you will find a relatively small house with several guest rooms, but with everything you need, a reasonable sized room with private bathroom, basic decor, pool, and a warm welcome from Stelios that will pick you up at the harbour or airport. It’s a good value for the money.
Perissa is mainly a summer resort so you won’t find here the typical white houses from Fira, the main attraction is Perissa Beach, that attracts lots of tourists because of its length. The beach has dark sand due to the volcanic origin of the island and a huge rock called Mesa Vouno is the guardian of the place. But if you are looking for a comfortable sandy beach this one is not recommended, there is little sand here, instead lots of small rocks also in the water so beware with your steps! For the rest, amazing scenery, warm water, warm days and nights, and lots of entertainment…

This so-called hostel (but hotel) is ok for one night, I wouldn’t advice it for more. The location is really good, near the city center, with a view over the river, but well, all the rest is pricey for what you get.
They try to create thematic rooms but the final result is below average. Beyond that, the place is noisy, has no character, the facilities are small, the bathroom is in the corridor…but the worst is definitely the musty smell of the building!
If it wasn’t for the location this would be a very disappointing accommodation choice.

hostel aloha berlin
Hostel Aloha
is a friendly and cosy place. They don’t accept big groups which is a plus.
Beyond that the staff is really nice and will give you a lot of tips on what to do and visit in this huge city!
You have a living room and a small kitchen where the breakfast is served, its all included in the price. Free internet is another asset. The bathrooms and showers are quite clean as well.
The multiple rooms have enough space for you and your luggage (if you want a locker you pay 3 eu), you are not sleeping in a tight space like it happens so often in many hostels. Also the light in the room is not annoying if other person walks in during the night.
Metro and bus are just next door and in a 5 minutes walk you reach Alexander Platz. The street and surroundings are lively with lots of restaurants and bars!
The entrance of the building is a bit degraded and there’s no elevator but don’t care about that, it adds some charm to it, the hostel is a good value for the money.

Langholmen hostel
The Langholmen concept is quite original, you sleep in the dorms of an old prison. The experience is unique, but if you just want an affordable bed to sleep there are cheaper options. This is not a party hostel either.
The dorms are located in the prison museum where you have an exhibition. The heavy doors open to a reasonably sized bedroom with comfortable beds and decent lockers, but you have to pay extra for everything else: linen, towels, internet, breakfast…
You can have breakfast for 80kr, its not pricey for what you get considering Stockholm prices, since you have a buffet with all sort of good food (just missing some fruit!).
The location of the hostel is also quite pleasant, one of Stockholm lovely islands, with several nature paths and a beach! Also not too far from the metro and in a walkable distance to the city center (20min) through a path by the water.
The staff is really friendly and helpful which is a plus.

The great deal about Hostel One is the professional attitude and friendliness of the staff.
It’s located in a typical Sevillian house with an interior yard, charming, but rooms get noisy because all the people gather here to chat.
The guest kitchen has good facilities but it’s small for all the people who want to use it. It’s always crowded.
The hostel provides free internet, a balcony to smoke, and beers in the fridge (1 €). But the best thing is the night tour they organise to watch a free flamenco show.
Near by there’s a huge plaza with lot’s of places to eat and drink, full of young people. To reach the historic center you need around 15 min walking.
It’s a friendly place to stay in Seville.

I stayed at The Clown and Bard a few nights a couple of years ago. It’s an easy-going party hostel.
The great deal about it was definitely the breakfast all the morning with pretty good food. Besides that, it has a music bar (where you have breakfast) and also free internet connection in the reception.
Ok, it was hard to get to the room with big bags on the top floor by stairs, but it was fine since we had a big room as a reward.
The hostel is not the most central or the most spick-and-span in town, but it has some character and its a good value for the money.

I would say the best things about this hostel are: central location, small size and Liszt Opera.
Unity it’s an apartment in a residential building, so you get a very intimate atmosphere in it, “home feeling” like.
There’s a common area where all the guests have breakfast together, sharing the milk, the butter and such, basically a living room where you chat with everybody.
It’s location is great, you can go on foot to several places.
Found delightful to wake up in the morning with the opera singers next door!

For this trip to Brussels I decided to try a different kind of accommodation: what in french they call “chambres d’hôtes”. Basically it’s a guest room in a family house and sometimes can be really cheap for what you get , specially in expensive cities.
Les oiseaux de passage was a pleasant choice: I had a big comfortable room and shared some moments and stories with a friendly belgium family during the breakfast.
