I reached Airbnb while looking for a bed & breakfast in Barcelona and decided to try it out. A good experience!
What’s about? You basically have locals renting rooms for holidays and you stay in their houses. In the case of Barcelona I found this option much more interesting and affordable: I stayed in the city center with my own room, had a breakfast included, my own bathroom and was able to use the kitchen for the same price of a multiple room in a hostel!
Airbnb provides a more authentic stay, and I find it a very effective way of avoiding overpriced hostels with no character or plain hotels in the suburbs. The choice and price range is quite diverse, you have really basic rooms and really charming ones, plus you have the local tips! Definitely I will try it next time!

For this trip to Brussels I decided to try a different kind of accommodation: what in french they call “chambres d’hôtes”. Basically it’s a guest room in a family house and sometimes can be really cheap for what you get , specially in expensive cities.
Les oiseaux de passage was a pleasant choice: I had a big comfortable room and shared some moments and stories with a friendly belgium family during the breakfast.

Ugufolo
Ugufolo
is a charming Bed and Breakfast located a few minutes away from the historic center of Alghero. It has a very cosy environment with only 2 rooms. We stayed in the small blue room, that had a very nostalgic ambiance. The bathroom for this bedroom is outside of the room but it has really nice facilities. There’s no air conditioning in the place though.
Alessio our host was extremely friendly and provided us a lot of advises and all the information we needed to enjoy Alghero and its surroundings. Beyond that, he also prepared a delicious breakfast, served in the terrace, that included home-made cappuccino, home-made yogurt and jam with fresh fruits and some typical Sardinian cookies!
The living room is also lovely and there you can find several art books and touristic information. All this from 25€ a person, I definitely recommend this B&B for a stay.

La Pavoncella
Located in Tortolì, Sardinia, La Pavoncella is a familiar B&B runned by Anna, a true italian mama!
The family inhabits the first floor and the guests the ground floor. In total there are 3 differently decorated double rooms with bathroom ensuite, air conditioning and tv. We got the “terra” room. It was large, comfortable and fine decorated with traditional Sardinian handicrafts. All was spick and span and well maintained.
The breakfast was delicious; the fruits and cookies deserved a special attention, different every day. You are able to use the fridge of the breakfast room and there is a microwave as well if you need.
Anna, our host was caring and nice and will help you in what you need. Besides that, she has some partnerships with local touristic operators that can provide you discounts. A good value for the money.
